VERDICCHIO WINE

Verdicchio is a white species of vine cultivated almost exclusively in The Marche region, in particular in the area of ‘Castelli di Jesi’, the fortified towns of Jesi and others in the area. It is a versatile variety of vine which can be used to produce fresh young wines and also very structured wines. The name derives from the colour of the grape itself, which maintains evident shades of green even when fully mature. This species of vine is considered indigenous to the area with the first evidence of cultivation going back to the 16th Century.

Verdicchio vines produce high quality grapes which are used to make superior quality full bodied wines, having a good balance of acidity and high alcohol content. Pale straw yellow in colour with a wide range of floral and fruity undertones, delicately scented often with hints of minerals. A dry harmonious taste with a pleasant slightly bitter aftertaste.

Ideal with seafood: fish starters (raw and cooked), pasta courses, grilled and oven cooked fish. Also goes well with white means, rabbit in particular.
