LACRIMA WINELacrima di Morro D’Alba is a wine that was once at risk of dying out but was saved when in 1985 it was granted DOC status. Produced exclusively in the province of Ancona in a restricted area of 6 towns of which Morro D’Alba is central, lying in the heart of a landscape of gently rolling hillsides enjoying a mediterranean climate. Produced from an indigenous species of vines with the same name. The name is believed to derive from the fact that when the grapes reach maturity the delicate skin tends to split open and produce tears (lacrima translates as tear).
Intense ruby red in colour with violet reflections. Pleasant intense aroma with scents of fruit and flowers. Pleasantly dry and soft on the palate, medium bodied often with strong hints of violet .
A wine to be consumed whilst young, although it can also be consumed whilst more mature, Lacrima is ideally combined with local salami, tomato based first courses, white meats. Also excellent with marinated fish dishes or the famous local fish soup ‘brodetto all’anconetana’.
